Tell us a little bit about you

Hi! I’m Hannah and I’ve been at Picnic since March 2022. I’m originally from Kent, now living in London, and I’ve worked in media since 2016 starting with internships at Penguin Random House and Conde Nast before moving to HELLO! Magazine and then Hearst. Despite my parents being told to “not expect much” from me when I was in Prep School(!), I have an undergraduate degree in English and Publishing, along with a Masters in Digital Media and Society, both from Loughborough University.

Describe your role at Picnic

My role is to work with media agencies to deliver great advertising campaigns for their clients, whilst also generating revenue for Picnic. This involves meeting with my contacts at agencies on a regular basis to better understand their client's requirements and outlining the user first solutions we have at Picnic to help them to deliver a successful campaign.

What excites you most about the industry?

Media is an industry which is constantly evolving, creating an exciting working environment where each day is rarely the same. Evidence of media and advertising is all around us in many different forms, and I love the creativity and diversity involved in some of these campaigns. Building and nurturing relationships is a key element in this industry, and being able to meet with likeminded people at the likes of IPG and talk about work for 10 minutes and then have a general life catch up for the remaining 35 minutes (Saint, if you’re reading this - I’m kidding 😊) is fantastic.

Which campaign has inspired you recently?

There are so many campaigns that I could talk about which have inspired me. One which springs to mind is when we were tasked by Total Media to come up with an engaging and innovative new format for a BritBox campaign. Our team managed to create a new 'Swipe Right' format inspired by dating apps and deliver this for the client in roughly 8 weeks! Not only did we create it totally from scratch, but the campaign itself also performed exceptionally well, and we now use the swipe-right format across various campaigns, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which has to be one of my favourites 🪄

What are your passions outside of work?

Outside of Picnic I have many passions, some of which can often find their way into the Picnic office… I am a dog sitter so will usually be found with a furry friend in tow! I also play lacrosse and very much enjoy anything artistic and creative.

Tell us a fun fact about you that people may not know.

A fun fact about me is that I am heavily involved with England Lacrosse, and as a Governing Body we are working closely with World Lacrosse with the aim of getting Lacrosse into the Olympics and Common Wealth Games. Since the Olympic-style format of the game was released in 2021, competitions to showcase the game have popped up all over the world, with England’s contribution being The Fly competition. You’ll be able to see us in action at Rosslyn Park in London this May and June for our third year!
